JOHN BRUCE 1907 - 2007 After a full and wonderful life, John passed away peacefully in his 100th year on January 3, 2007, in Vancouver. Loving husband of Edith for over 60 years, and dear father of Jamie (Cindy) Bruce, Mary (Bryan) Graham, and Scott (Mary) Bruce; adored grandfather of David (Una), Martha (Graeme), Andrew, Jamie and Alison and great-grandfather of Lorna. Born in Scotland to Matthew and Maggie Bruce, John grew up in Toronto and used his ever creative talents to build a rewarding career in advertising, primarily with Eaton's in both Toronto and Winnipeg. In retirement he and Edith moved to Vancouver where they spent many happy years together enjoying family and making many special friendships. John's dedicated care of Edith in her battle with Alzheimer's disease was inspiring to us all and touched our hearts deeply. John taught us the importance of laughter and the value of family and friends. Hoping to live to be as old as his jokes was a favourite expression of his and we are proud that he did just that. His kindness and gentle sense of humour will be greatly missed and his memory cherished. Genevieve Schneider's kindness to both John and Edith in recent years has been greatly appreciated by the family. Flowers are gratefully declined but donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or a charity of one's choice will be appreciated.
