WILLIAM (BILL) R. COOKE 1948 - 2007 Bill Cooke passed away on January 3, 2007. Bill was born in Smith Falls, ON and later resided in Perth, Hamilton, Calgary, Winnipeg, and finally Selkirk, MB. Bill is survived by his wife Dana of 34 years; parents Ed and Dorothy Hale; mother-in-law Stefania Misiewicz; brother and sister-in-law Roger and Glenda Cooke and niece Sarah; step-brother Skip and Alana Hale from Atlin, BC; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Beatrice and Dennis Buzahora, along with nephews, John and James and niece Sandee. Bill had many passions, two of which were sailing on his catamaran called Double Trouble where he enjoyed his sailing in Gimli and Silver Harbour. Bill was also one of the finest custom framers in the business today and was very proud of his store in Selkirk, Village Framing / Waterfront Gallery . I am sure that this legacy will remain forever. Prior to opening his business, Bill worked for Steeltown Ford for 23 years and was recognized as one of the best Ford parts men in Canada. Rest and relaxation in the earlier years included camping and fishing at Black, Gem, and Snowshoe Lake and vacationing on a houseboat at Lac Sul, ON. In recent years Bill and his wife Dana enjoyed their summers at their cabin at Chesley's Resort where they found peace, fun, and gained many new friendships. He will miss Brian's annual fish fry. Most importantly, were the strong friendships Bill secured with Ron and Charlene Monds, Rod and Colette Walters, Diane and Paul VanWart (Paul was Bill's sailing buddy), and others, too many to mention at this time. Thanks are extended to the staff at Selkirk General Hospital Emergency and the staff at I.C.U. at the Victoria General Hospital for their kind and gentle care of Bill. At Bill's request, there will be no formal service. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to CancerCare.
