IVY GERTRUDE PAWLEY (nee MCCUAIG) June 7, 1937 - December 31, 2006 Suddenly on December 31, 2006, Ivy passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 69 years. Ivy leaves to cherish her memory: daughter Elaine Ennis; son Dan; grandchildren, Sabrina, Stacey, Shannon and Mathew; great-granddaughter MacKenzie and her father Myles Shastko; brother Leslie (Margaret) McCuaig of Portage la Prairie and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Francis Pawley; son Norman Allan; her parents Allan and Gladys; and her brother-in-law Jennings Pawley. Growing up in a small rural area South West of Portage la Prairie (Rossendale), Ivy wanted to be a school teacher and came to Winnipeg to get her teaching certificate. She then taught in rural areas of Manitoba - Anola, Pratt and Laurier where she would rent a room in family homes in the area. She met her husband Francis in Laurier and they later married on October 11, 1958 and moved to Winnipeg where Ivy continued her teaching and Francis took on a construction job. They lived in Winnipeg until they bought their first home in the Old Kildonan area (now West St. Paul) on the outskirts of Winnipeg. Ivy continued teaching and substituting in the Seven Oaks School Division. In 1977 she started working with Canada Post in the Area of Registration which she enjoyed and retired in 2002. Family and friends were always a big part of Ivy's life. She spent a lot of time with her grandchildren, taking them places and doing crafts and entering their many crafts in the Portage Fair. She enjoyed doing paper tole, taking pictures, traveling and working on her family tree which her father had started and when she retired she made family tree binders for all of us. Ivy loved to travel and went to London, England and Scotland with her granddaughter Sabrina. A few years later she went with her granddaughter Stacey to London, Paris and Amsterdam. Mom loved to go for drives with camera in hand and her friend Shirley. They especially loved to watch when the Canadian Geese started to flock together to fly south for the winter.
