Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA MARIA HEATHERINGTON (nee KAISER) May 12, 1925 - January 2, 2007 Peacefully, at home, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother passed away at the age of 81. She was predeceased by her loving husband Harold and her son Gerald. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Chuck) Edwards, Linda (Emile) Bisson, and Marianne Heatherington (Ron Withawick); her grandchildren, Ian, Marina, Christina, Lance, Cory, Kassandra, Ronald, and great-grandsons, Darien and Kai, as well as three sisters. Anna was born in rural Manitoba and was one of 16 children. The family moved around a fair bit and finally ended up on a farm outside of Starbuck, MB. At age 17, Anna moved to Winnipeg where she worked at various jobs. She met Harold, and on July 5, 1947 they were married. They enjoyed 59 years together. Anna worked at the Hudson's Bay Company for 27 years, and remained active in the Retiree's Club as a member of the phoning committee for their events. After she and Harold retired, they spent their winters down in Texas where they made many friends and played quite a few hands of cards. Our Mother's love of gardening was evident as her garden flourished from all her tender loving care and was a pleasure to all who walked by. We will always remember our Mother for her amazing cooking and most importantly for always being there for us no matter what. There was no other that could cook like her, especially her dainties and gravy. She always had something to eat for anyone who dropped by (You know who you are). Our Mother was strong and courageous when it came to facing the trials and hardships in her life. Her goal was to live long enough to look after her husband at home; and she achieved this, even when she herself was walking around with what she called her portable lungs . She didn't let her disability slow her down, whether it was going shopping, heading down to the Casino, or entertaining others. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, January 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. W. with Rev. Jeff Cook officiating. A reception will follow immediately after the service with a private interment to take place at a later date. Flowers gratefully accepted and memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or charity of your choice. She was not only our Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, but our very best friend and we will miss her dearly. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME 885-9715
