SEVERINE ZAKUS (BACHYNSKY) On January 4, 2007, Severine Zakus passed away at the age of 102. Severine (Sev) was born in Serafinec, Ukraine in 1904 and arrived in Winnipeg as an infant with her family. She married Dr. Paul Zakus in 1931, who predeceased her in 1987. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Jennie, Alexander, Vladimir, Mary and George. She is survived by her children, Gloria (Denver), Joyce (Jim) Anderson (Winnipeg), Paul (Peggy) (Victoria) and five grandchildren, Jim (London, England), Susan Anderson and husband Don Campbell (Minneapolis), Matthew (Calgary), Joanna (Calgary), Kathryn (Calgary), and many nieces and nephews. Sev was wonderful with sewing and was an accomplished embroiderer and seamstress. She devoted her life to her family, relatives, many friends, the church and was always a very accommodating and generous hostess. The family wishes to thank all her caregivers who assisted her in the latter part of her life. Funeral Service will be held at the Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 1175 Main St. on Wednesday, January 10 at 9:30 a.m. with Very Rev. H. Lakusta presiding. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Lion's Manor Personal Care Centre, 320 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2W6.
