TOM BLAHEY
Born: Feb 25, 1927
Date of Passing: Jan 05, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTOM BLAHEY The nieces and nephews of Tom Blahey announce with heavy hearts the peaceful passing of a dear uncle and friend, on January 2, 2007 at his residence. Uncle Tom was born to Wasyl and Felicia Blahey on February 25, 1927 on the family farm near Chatfield, Manitoba. He was the second youngest of 13 children and was predeceased by his parents and all his siblings. Uncle Tom briefly worked away from home at the general store in Chatfield, as well as in Winnipeg. However, the calling of his farming roots drew him back to first help his parents on their farm and then buy the family farm and run it as his own. He successfully and independently managed his farm for over 50 years. Officially retiring in 2005 and shifting gears to a more leisurely lifestyle. He was blessed with the friendship of Peter Yuzwa Sr. Together they crisscrossed Manitoba, taking in events and experiences they never had an opportunity to when farming. Funeral services will be held at the Chatfield Community Hall at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 with Fr. Harry Chuckry officiating. As per his wishes, Uncle Tom will be carried to his final resting place by his nephews, David, Jim, Carl, Bruce, Wayne and Glen Blahey at the Chatfield Community Cemetery. Special thanks to those friends and relatives who took the time to help Uncle Tom as he transitioned from farming to retirement. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Uncle Tom's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Service.
