BERNARD BROWNIE STEVENS Brownie Stevens died peacefully in his sleep on Christmas morning at the East Gate Personal Care Home in Beausejour, MB at the aged of 90 years. He was born on March 25, 1916. Brownie will lovingly be remembered by his wife Buntty; his son Gerry (Judy); and his daughter Lynne (Jack Hildebrand); his daughter- in-law Marlene; his sister Stella Baspaly; his grandchildren Grant (Joyce), Nora (Marty Rattee), Sharon (Jeff Tokarchuk), Jon (Roanna), Michael (Delina), Jason (Wendy Dawson), Jon (Melissa) and Jodi; and 13 great grandchildren. His grandson Todd; his son Donald; his brothers Joe Kizuk, Alex Kizuk, Rodney Stevens; and sisters Emily Lamoureux and Betty Fairbairn predeceased him. Dad grew up on a farm around the Stonewall area but his family moved into Winnipeg. He started working at MacDonald Brothers Sheet Metal, which eventually changed to Bristol Aerospace. While he was employed at Bristol he attended night school and retired as a Tool and Die Designer at 62 years of age in 1978. Dad loved carpentry and made furniture for his children and built a cottage at Spruce Sands with his sons helping him. Dad loved golfing and golfed at Northern Air just north of Gimli, usually at 6:00 a.m. Northern Air finally gave him a key to open up the storage door because he was always the first one there. In his retirement years, he helped Lynne raise her children. Jason, Jon and Jodi spent a lot of time with Grandma and Grandpa while Mom worked. He drove them to all the sports they played and then spent the summers at the cottage. Mom and Dad celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary at the East Gate Personal Care Home with all their family present on June 20, 2006. The family would like to thank the staff at East Gate Personal Care Home in Beausejour, MB, especially the ones in the Shamrock and Rose Units. A Memorial Service will be held at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour, MB in the latter part of March, 2007.
