JOHN HEIDE
Born: Feb 14, 1944
Date of Passing: Jan 02, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN HEIDE It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden loss of John Heide on January 2, 2007. Our beloved father of nine, grandfather of 16, great-grandfather of one, beloved fiancé and soul mate of Sandra Martel, and friend of many. John was born on February 14, 1944 in Altona, MB and grew up in the Horndean area. He loved singing, playing his fiddle, hunting and helping anyone who was in need. He spent the last 23 years working for the City of Winnipeg. In 1995 John had suffered a stroke and we were blessed that the Lord allowed him to stay with us. Our most profound remembrance of him is his willingness to help and always be there for friends and family. He taught us to forgive and to love and to always keep our sense of Ha Ha . When he laughed he laughed with his whole face, his beautiful light blue eyes, inherited from his father, would light up and draw us closer to his heart. John was predeceased by his parents, Cornelius and Elizabeth Heide, his two sisters Annie Hiebert and Sarah Banman. John leaves to mourn his remaining sister, Tina Hiebert and her family as well as numerous cousins and relatives from his mother and father's family. Following John's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of John's great acts of kindness and generosity, donations can be made in his memory to Winkler Bible Camp. John's father and John himself loved that camp and assisted their grandchildren the opportunity to attend. I met John a couple of years ago when I ran into trouble with my bicycle in the Civic Parkade. John offered a pair of pliers from his tool-box. I was a complete stranger. He treated everyone with respect and always smiled. His ability to carry a conversation was a special gift. I returned to the parkade today expecting to greet John and ask how the winter was, and learned of his passing. I'm sad he's no longer there to step out of his booth and say hello. John, thank you for helping me out that day. I will never forget it. - Posted by: Shaun McLeod (Friend) on: May 02, 2007
