Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH (JOE) CLAUDE BERTIN Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, December 24, 2006, at St. Boniface Hospital with family at his side, Joe of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away at the age of 73 years. Remaining to cherish Joe's memory are brother Ray and wife Terry; son Michael and wife Eleanor; grandchildren Ben, Dan, Tom, Jon, Paul, Becky and Tim; godson David Oryniak; niece Denise and husband Jack Epp; son David, ex-wife Marrian. He was predeceased by his parents; Jean Baptiste and Edna Marie Bertin and his brother Leo. On April 10, 1933, Joe was born in North Bay Ontario. He entered into the service of his country in 1954 when he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in NORAD on many bases across Canada, from coast to coast, until leaving the service in 1980. Thereafter, Joe worked for Centra Gas in Winnipeg, Manitoba, until his retirement in 1991. Joe enjoyed his retirement fully, savoring the simple pleasures of life. He will be remembered as a generous man of simple tastes who thought of others before himself. Joe's Funeral Service and interment will take place in Hamilton, Ontario, where he will be laid to rest alongside his parents. The staff at the St Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit provided exceptional care during Joe's last weeks. Their efforts were greatly appreciated.
