KATHERINE (KAY) MARGARET HAMILTON (nee KARRAS) September 8, 1927 - January 5, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Mervin of 55 years; four children, Loreen, Valerie, Rodney (Joy) of Winnipeg, Glenn (Cindy) of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Cyndi of Eckville, Jennifer of Vancouver, Meaghan of Edmonton and Matthew and Daniel of Winnipeg; great-grandchildren, Travis and Karinda of Eckville. Kay was born on September 8, 1927 in Taber, Alberta, to Nicholas and Florence Karras. Kay is survived by one sister and two brothers, Vivien of Calgary, Charles (Lo Anne) of Taber, and George (Elaine) of Cranbrook; brother-in-law Melvin (Mary) of Lethbridge and numerous nieces and nephews. Kay was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Christopher and David; sister-in-law Joan Masson (Ronald) of Lethbridge, and brother-in-law Ray Winfield of Calgary. Kay was a homemaker for many years, she then worked for Sears (Lighting Department) for 18 years and retired in 1992. She volunteered at Grace Hospital Muffin Stop for eight years and enjoyed her time working there with Florence. Kay enjoyed knitting, traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends. Special times spent with her grandchildren baking, knitting, gardening and playing games will be fondly remembered. The family would like to thank the H3 Ward and CancerCare staff at Health Sciences Centre who provided comfort and care during her stay there. A service of remembrance will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on January 11, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. How do I say goodbye to what we had, The good times that made us laugh outweigh the bad, I thought we'd get to see forever, but forever's gone away - it's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday
