FRANCES ALBERTA POWER (HENFREY) Frances (Frankie) Power passed away peacefully on January 7, 2007 at Meadowood Manor in Winnipeg at the age of 83 years. Frances' love of life will be remembered by her children, daughter Marian of Ottawa, daughter Delia (Hellar Nakonechny) of Carman and grandchildren, Alanna (Mike Esler) and great-granddaughter Lia Mae Esler of Slidell, Louisiana, Lauren (Derrick Chornomydz) of Carman, Aaron Nakonechny of Carman, daughter Allyn (Doug Michael) of Okotoks, daughter Dawn (Guy Arbez) and grandchildren, Lise, Jeanne, and Claire Arbez of Winnipeg, daughter Heather (Harold Klause) of Winnipeg, and son Ian (Kathy nee Kendall) and grandchildren, Danica and Erick Power of Calgary. Frances was born in Virden, MB, the youngest of five children. She lived in Virden, Brandon, Winnipeg, England, and Kenora while growing up and trained as a registered nurse in Hamilton during the Second World War, graduating in 1946. In 1947, she married M. Parry Power, her childhood friend from Virden. Both Frankie and Parry lost a brother during the Second World War which brought them together again and lead to a long and fruitful marriage. Parry passed away in 1988. They had six children over a period of 14 years and Frankie stayed at home to raise them. Among other things, she nurtured in her children a love of reading, music, theatre, and dance, which has enriched their lives. She and her husband were long-time active members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Winnipeg. There, at various times, she served in many capacities, including, as Second Reader, as a member of the Board of Directors, and in the Reading Room. A private family service is planned. The family wishes to thank the staff of Meadowood Manor for the kindness and care given to Frances during her stay with them. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Doyle's Funeral Home, Carman, in care of arrangements. (www.doyleschaples.com)
