MILLICENT ANNE COX (nee JOHNSTON) Peacefully on January 6, 2007 with her family at her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Millie was predeceased by her mother Vivian, father Charles and brother Thomas. Millie is survived by her loving husband Al, son James and wife Sharon of Headingley, daughter Kathy and husband Scott Jocelyn of Winnipeg; four grandchildren Erin, Jordan, Seren and Deklan. Millie was born on February 11, 1937 in Winnipeg, and met and married her husband Al in 1959. They moved to Brandon in 1960 and lived there for 9 years. When her husband was transferred to Portage la Prairie they spent the next 20 years there until their retirement in 1989 when they returned to Winnipeg. Millie's life centered around her family and her responsibility as a homemaker and Mother. She greatly enjoyed crocheting, knitting and just about any needlework. Millie was a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star having served as Worthy Matron with Electa Chapter #2 in Portage la Prairie prior to moving to Winnipeg. She became a member of Friendship Chapter #67 and for the past two years served as Grand Representative to the Province of Quebec. Millie was active in the Anglican Church and sang in the choirs (the love of her life) at St. Marys in Portage la Prairie, St. Philips Winnipeg, Holy Trinity in Headingley and recently St. James Anglican Church. Mill and Al met through Scouting and both remained active with the association for over thirty-five years. For the past twelve years Millie enjoyed spending six months of each year at their cabin in the Whiteshell. Flowers are gratefully declined, if one so wishes, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St. Wpg., MB, R3C 2B7. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to the many people involved through Cancer Care Manitoba, Home Care and Palliative Care. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church, 195 Collegiate Street. A private interment will follow, with a reception back at the church. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home And Reception Centre 885-9715
