STANLEY CURZON SUGGETT January 26, 1923 - January 6, 2007 It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of Stan Suggett at the Grace Hospital following a brief illness. Stan was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Nettie, of 51 years of marriage; children, Jim (Cathy), Glen (Janet Moore), Carolyn (Peter Marinelli), and Keith; and sister Dorothy Robertson. He will be remembered fondly by his grandchildren, Colin, Clare, Andrew, Justin, Jessica and Brayden. He was widely regarded as a gentleman and a good friend and will be greatly missed by numerous relatives, friends and neighbours. Born in Winnipeg on January 26, 1923, Stan was predeceased by his father Fred (1965); mother Anne (1980); brother-in-law Ian Robertson (1995) and far too many close friends. As a boy he was fascinated by flight, building model airplanes and watching aircraft at Stevenson Field. After attending Isaac Brock and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, Stan went to work at City Hydro. However, the Second World War intervened and he enlisted in the Air Force in 1942 and trained as a pilot through the Commonwealth Air Training Plan. He proudly received his wings as a Pilot Officer in 1944 and was honourably released from service in 1945. This experience provided him with some of the most memorable times of his life. Stan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manitoba in 1949. He enjoyed a successful career as a Professional Engineer with Kipp Kelly, where he met Nettie, followed by Powell Equipment, where he worked from 1954 until his retirement in 1983. As a young man, Stan was an avid cricket player, golfer and curler. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and spending time with the family at the cottage in Sandy Hook. Dad was a warm, loving, and caring family man. He treated people with consideration and respect and was always willing to take the time for a visit or to lend a helping hand. In retirement he enjoyed puttering around the yard and working on handyman projects around home and at the cottage. He was well known as a man who could fix just about anything electrical or mechanical. He took quiet pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and was always supportive of their endeavours. Together with Mom, Dad enjoyed celebrating special occasions with family dinners and spending time with his grandchildren in Winnipeg, Calgary and Portage. He took an interest in a diverse range of subjects and was a great source of knowledge, particularly in history and politics. He enjoyed reading and watching documentaries. One of his favourite past times was flying his planes on the computer. He remained active through his membership in the War Time Pilot's Association and was a dedicated member of Christ Church (Anglican). In compliance with Stan's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held and a private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Stan's memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Stan's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 4665
