STANISLAWA (STELLA) LIS It is with great sadness and a tremendous feeling of loss that the family of Stanislawa Lis announce her passing at St. Boniface Hospital on the morning of January 6, 2007. She leaves behind to mourn her passing her loving family. Her children, Ben (Diane), Andy, Ursula (Gordon), Margaret (Gerrard), and Jadzia (Ray); grandchildren, Elyssa (Dirk), Chantel (Irney), James (Casi), Joseph (Emma), Amber, Nika, Erika, and Mathew, and her great-grandchildren, Daegan and Shayna. Maria Januszkowski was the family's closest relative in Winnipeg. Stella will also be mourned by family and many friends in Poland, Chicago and other parts of Canada. Born in Kleczany, Poland, on October 24, 1928, to Jozef and Maria Loboda. Stella and her husband Michal Lis (1928 - 1997), raised four children in nearby Krzywa. The family immigrated to Canada April 10, 1961 and settled in Winnipeg where Jadzia was born. Stella worked hard all her life. First at Holy Family Nursing Home and then for many years at the T. Eaton Co. Stella loved to sing, dance and travel. In her retirement she spent much time with family and friends often speaking of her early life in Poland and sharing fond memories of her more recent travels through Europe. She enjoyed many hours joyfully gardening on her balcony and creatively knitting for others. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will miss her Polish cooking, especially her rosul, borscht and special pastries. Her loving, giving open heart, her ever-cheerful disposition, positive outlook and great sense of humor have affected all who knew her. Her high energy and joy for life will be carried on by those she has touched and those who love her. The family would like to acknowledge the special efforts of Dr. Raabe and the doctors and nurses of the St Boniface Cardiac Unit. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 12:00 noon, visitation prior starting at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers: James Hoban, Joseph Hoban, Gordon Stelman, Ray Draho, Dirk Blouw and Irney Reimer. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
