MARY HELEN PETRIE (nee CRAN) Peacefully, on Sunday, January 7, 2007, at Park Manor Personal Care Home, Mary Petrie passed away surrounded by her family at the age of 86 years. Mary was born on March 23, 1920 in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She married John Alexander Petrie on October 13, 1945. John immigrated to Canada in 1957, Mary and their four children joined him in Winnipeg in 1958, where their fifth child, Bruce, was born three years later. Mary worked as a Health Care Aide at Park Manor Personal Care Home until she retired in January 1987. Mary was a member of the Transcona Memorial United Church and also the United Church Women. She was a member of the Transcona Royal Canadian Legion and an avid supporter of the Transcona Pipe Band. Mom will be sadly missed but very lovingly remembered by her children, Allan (Cheryl), Ian (Carol), Rosemary (Will) Noll, Stuart (Kelly) and Bruce (Shaun Johnson); grandchildren, Pam (Ted) Sontag, Keith (Jen), Kim (Ed) Delaroque, Craig (Kris), Colleen (Tyson) Langrell, Jen Noll (Ted Wall), Mike Noll (Kim Greig), Rick (Kim) Noll, Erin Petrie (James Cook) and Kerri; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Austin, Ciarra, Brady, Madison, Mackenzie, Kailey, Chantal and twins due in March. Mary is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law and their families in Scotland and Australia as well as many special friends and relatives. Mary was predeceased by her husband John in 1989. A Memorial Service will be held at the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, with Rev. Jeff Cook and Rev. Carol Fletcher officiating. A gathering will follow in the church hall. Mary's family will TAK HER ASHES HAME to Scotland at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Park Manor Personal Care Home, 301 Redonda Street, Winnipeg, MB R2C 1L7 or to a charity of your choice. Heartfelt thanks and appreciation go to the wonderful staff at Park Manor Personal Care Home (many who also worked with Mary) for their loving care, kindness and compassion.
