VIOLET KLASSEN It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing, with her family at her side, of Violet Rosalie Pearl Klassen (nee Pries). Violet is survived by her husband Ted; sons, Jerome (Caroline), Carl (Krista) and Ted Jr. She is also mourned by her devoted father George D. Pries; sisters, Madeline (Peter Pauls), Olive (Antony Wiebe); brothers, Weldon (Rebecca), Rendall (Susan); and her nephews and nieces, whom she all loved dearly; also her many colleagues and friends who have supported her in her 15 year struggle with breast cancer. She was predeceased by her mother Lena Pries in 1992. Violet was an educator who taught at Beaver Lodge, John Dafoe and Queenston schools in Winnipeg. In 1985 she and Ted moved to Altona where she taught at Elmwood Elementary School for the past 22 years. A memorial service, celebrating the life of Violet will be held on Saturday, January 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the Altona Bergthaler Mennonite Church (117 - 2nd Street NW). The family will receive condolences in the Rhineland Pioneer Centre (227 - 10th Avenue NW) following the service. A private family interment will take place at the family plot in the Winkler Cemetery at a later date. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at CancerCare at the Health Sciences Centre, St. Boniface Hospital and Boundary Trails. Also, a special thanks to the staff at the Altona Health Centre who took such wonderful care of Violet during her last few days.
