MARY SURMINSKI It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, baba and sister, Mary Surminski, wife of Roy Surminski, on Monday, January 8, 2007 at the Arborg and District Health Centre. Mom was born on November 26, 1926 in Broad Valley, MB. On May 15, 1945 she married her loving husband Roy. Together they happily raised their family while farming on the family farm in the Poplarfield area and continued to farm until their retirement. Mom was predeceased by her loving son Gerald on October 13, 1992; parents, Peter and Katherine Lysak; three infant siblings, Ann, Billy and Peter and her sister-in-law Helen Lysak. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband Roy of 61 years and will be sadly missed by her children, Natalie (Mike) Sucharyna, Ernie (Mary), Larry (Adeline) and Brian (Dawnett). Mom will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Terry and Darlene Sucharyna, Darrell and Evan Surminski, Nicole, Allison and Taylor Surminski and by her two brothers, George (Audrey) Lysak and Mike Lysak. In her quiet and humble way, Mom lived her life for her family asking so very little in return. She enjoyed gardening, her grand-children and always looked forward to having her family around her. She also enjoyed spending time with her best friend and neighbour, Grace Kochan. She will be fondly remembered as a loving, caring, giving wife, mother and baba and will live forever in our hearts. May God now care for her as she did for us. Special thanks to Dr. Smeida and Dr. Aljafari and to the wonderful nursing staff at the Arborg and District Health Centre for their concern and compassion and to her home care worker, Nellie Burak, for her care and friendship. Prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12 at the Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Chapel, Arborg. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13 also at the Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Chapel with Fr. Harry Chuckry officiating. Interment to follow at Hamrlik Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Terry Sucharyna, Darrell and Evan Surminski; granddaughters, Darlene Sucharyna and Nicole Surminski and son-in-law Mike Sucharyna. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis and Jim Martin, Harold Surminski and Jeffrey Yaciuk. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
