Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRAE SAMPHIR Rae Samphir, with her family at her side, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2006. She was born in Winnipeg on June 30, 1917, the younger of twin girls. She was predeceased by her parents, Rose and Moshe Cohen; her beloved husband of 42 years Harry; and brothers, Lou, Meyer, and Boris. She is survived by her twin sister Eva Kushner; brothers, Allan (Izzy) and Max Cohen; sisters-in-law, Zelda, Clara, Dee and Tamar Cohen, Nettie Fingerote; brother-in-law Harry Green; her children, Marvin and Esther Samphir, Ralph and Bev Samphir; grandchildren, Joel and Naama Samphir, Daniel and Amy Samphir, Marni and Jonathan Halpern, Harrison and Charlie Samphir; six great-grandchildren, Eytan, Leo, Coby, Sophie, Lily and Liron; and many nieces and nephews. Her early years were spent in the interlake Town of Arborg, MB. In the late 1920s her family moved to Winnipeg and it is here that she spent her formative years and met the love of her life, her husband Harry. Rae was always a hard worker and very good business person who knew how to manage her personal affairs, She was a good cook, baker, and homemaker, making a good home where ever she lived. Always meticulously dressed with never with a hair out of place. She enjoyed making friends wherever she went, playing cards, Mah-jong, reading, dancing, laughing and generally enjoying life. She was active in Hadassah, Hebrew Sick Benefit Association and the Women's Musical Club. Her last years were spent in the Sharon Home where she was cared for with dignity and respect. The family especially acknowledges the support, care, dignity and friendship that her companion Rosie provided to her the last several years. Services where held at Etz Chayim Synagogue on December 26. Pallbearers were Joel, Daniel, Harrison and Charlie Samphir, Jonathan Halpern and Martin Zeilig. Honorary Pallbearers were Sam and Norman Stall. Mom, you have had a significant impact on all our lives and you will be missed by all.
