INGIBJORG JONINA PALSSON January 6, 1927 January 8, 2007 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of my dear wife, our mother, Amma and Langa Amma, Ingibjorg Jonina Palsson, at the Arborg and District Health Centre with her family by her side. Inga is survived by her husband of 56 years, Steingrimur; children, Morene (Robert), Ryan (Sigrid), Brenda (Archie); 10 grandchildren, Melanie (Gary), Blair (Richelle), Neil (Karla), Erin (Kang), Christine, Kendra (Craig), Corey, Chad (Nikki), Lyndsay (Damon), and Dylan; and eight great-grandchildren, Averie, Macy, Derrien, Chase, Connor, Toni, Darci and Briaer. Also mourning her loss are her siblings, Sigmar (Hulda), Valdi (Sigga), Fjola (Stan), Roy (Pat), Gay, Marlene, Bernice (Fridjon); her in-laws, Inga and Laurus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Inga was predeceased by her dear daughter Cheryl; her parents, Valdimar and Sigrun Johnson of Riverton; her siblings, Margret and Norman and in-laws, Helgi, Palmi, Haraldur, Sigrun, Soley and Roy, Baldur, Richard and Ruth. Inga was born and raised in Riverton where she attended school. As the eldest in a large family, she helped her mother raise her siblings as well as doing her share of the farm chores. On August 20, 1950, Inga married the love of her life, Steini, in Arborg. They settled into farm life in Geysir where they raised their growing family. Inga was never afraid of hard work. Along side her husband they raised cattle, pigs, and chickens amongst other animals. Inga's hands were never left idle as there was always bread to be baked, clothes to be sewn and children to be read to. She taught her children to speak and sing Icelandic and used this talent to later teach Icelandic in the Riverton School. She instilled a love of music in her children, making sure they all made it to their weekly music lessons. Inga and Steini rarely missed an old-time dance where they could always be found on the dance floor. Inga passed on her many talents to her children and grandchildren, such as sewing, knitting, cooking, and baking, especially Icelandic treats. She also loved to curl and take nature walks. Coffee-time at Amma and Afi's was an everyday occurrence where there was always fresh coffee brewing and ponnukukkar on the table. In the summertime she would often move coffee-time to a nearby field where we would join Pabbi for a tail-gate picnic. Inga's hard work continued into her 80th year and she remained dedicated to always having an open home. She always greeted family and visitors with a huge smile, especially little ones with whom she shared a special bond. Over the last five years, Inga's health declined due to her battle with Alzheimer's. Even during her hospital stay, she remained happy to see family as they remained happy to see her. She will be dearly missed and memories of her will remain in our hearts forever. The family would like to thank the staff of the Arborg and District Health Centre for their care of our mom Inga during her stay. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send a donation to the Alzheimer's Society or charity of their choice in her memory. Goda nott, elskan min.
