LEE MCLEOD Passed away in her sleep on the morning of January 7, 2007 with her daughters by her side, at the age of 81. She is survived by devoted husband Donald, daughters Pam (Gerald) and Brenda (Maurice); seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Lee immigrated to Canada from England in 1947 after the Second World War, eventually settling in Winnipeg, where she worked in the original Grace Hospital as a lab technician. She met Don McLeod, whose career as a Mining Engineer took them and their two daughters on many adventures. They lived in a variety of remote places from Pickle Crow, ON, Flin Flon, MB, Atikokan, ON, to Botswana, Africa. Mum's passion throughout life was community volunteer work, as well as serving on many committees. The Salvation Army, the Red Cross, and Humane Society were charities close to her heart. In Pickle Crow she ran a lending library out of the house, and later began a Youth Centre. In Botswana she volunteered full time at the local hospital as a lab technician, as well as the Red Cross with husband Don, as St. John Ambulance First Aid instructors. Upon returning to Winnipeg in 1978, Lee worked as a volunteer ESL teacher at Daniel McIntyre school, and later as a volunteer Talking Book reader for the CNIB. Her volunteer work touched many people throughout her life. In her memory, the family would appreciate your finding a charity that inspires you, and give generously of either your time or money. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 13 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with reception to follow. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715
