JOYCE MAXINE DAY (nee NELSON) Mrs. Joyce Day, aged 76 years dearly beloved wife of John Day of Silver Falls passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at the Sunnywood Manor in Pine Falls, MB. She is survived by her husband John; sons David (Janet), Jack, Robert, and Tim (Michelle), grandchildren Trevor, Miranda, Katelyn, Rebecca, Jordan, Coltin, and great-grandchild Cayden, as well as her brother Lloyd. She was predeceased by her brothers Raymond, Ken, sister Violet and parents Melvin and Mary Nelson. Joyce was born on April 12, 1930 in Great Falls, MB. Her life was shaped while growing up in the small communities of Pine Falls, Lac du Bonnet and Newcombe, with her brothers and sister. While living in Long Lake, MB, she met and later married her one true love, John. They were married on June 25, 1949. They moved to Pine Falls and began to raise a family. Joyce and her family then moved to Flin Flon where two sons were born. In 1957, she moved her family to Winnipeg, where another son was born in 1960. Joyce started working in 1968 for Sectors Ltd. and while there made many wonderful and meaningful friendships. Joyce retired along with her husband in 1980 and built a new home in Silver Falls, MB. Joyce developed arthritis several years later and in July 2006, moved into Sunnywood Manor in Pine Falls. Joyce had many interests and passions in her life. Her parents, brothers and sister, and all her nieces and nephews were always in her thoughts and heart. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafts. She enjoyed being a hockey mom at her son's hockey games. She was involved with the Boy Scouts at St. Cuthberts Church. She loved to go fishing at Pine Falls with her husband and four sons and weekend campfires at the cottage at Silver Falls. Joyce enjoyed baking and always enjoyed a challenge, such as wedding cakes. She had a passion for watching wrestling, hockey, figure skating, skiing, curling and rodeo. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 15, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of the Advent, Pine Falls, MB. with Rev. J. Giroux presiding. The service will terminate at the church with cremation to follow. Pallbearers will be Trevor Day, Craig Parisian, Richard Lavoie, Gary Mysak, Dean Duguid, and Jim Stephens. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Arthritis Foundation of Manitoba or Sunnywood Manor, Pine Falls, MB. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at Sunnywood Manor and Pine Falls Hospital for their kind and gentle care that they provided for Joyce.
