Born: Jun 15, 1924
Date of Passing: Jan 11, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER YUZWA SR. Peacefully on January 11, 2007, Peter Yuzwa Sr., aged 82 years, passed away at Riverview Health Care Centre, Winnipeg. Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife Florence in 1987; mother Nellie; father John; brothers Frank and Mike; sisters Stella Plinka and Lena Melnyk. He is survived by his three sons Peter and his wife Tannis; John and his wife Dawn, grandchildren, Alexandra and Leanne; and Nick and wife Wendy and grandson Pierson. He is also survived by his sister Josie Meile of Lethbridge, AB and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was born on June 15, 1924 near Broad Valley on the family farm. His family moved to Winnipeg and he grew up and worked there for a short time before moving back to the farm with his family. He married Mom on October 22, 1960 and lived and worked on the farm where he raised his family. His greatest joy was his family and he devoted all his hard work and time to them, but still found time for his friends and was a good friend to all who knew him. He semi retired after Mom's passing but still loved to work with his cattle and treated them like his pets. Dad loved farming, but perhaps his biggest passion was building things. Any projects his sons had, Dad was always there to lend a hand or advice. In 2003 Dad decided to finally retire and move to Poplarvilla to live on his own. He spent his remaining years traveling to various community events, but spent a good deal of his time scoping out many auction sales. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Percy Moore Hospital in Hodgson, MB and all the wonderful staff at Riverview Health Centre for their great care of Dad. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, at 11:00 a.m. at the Poplarfield Community Centre. Interment will take place at Poplarfield Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home, in care of arrangements.

One day when I was 4, we ate those rectangle shaped cookies. I forget what they are called, except, that was the most happiest memory of him. He would take me to see my Mom and Dad, when they were curling. He was the only Grandpa I knew, and the sad think is, my cousin, he never met him, because grandpa passed in January 2007, and my cousin was born in October 2007. I was born in 2003. I always cry when I talk about him, Pierson Yuzwa 2017. - Posted by: Pierson Nicholas Yuzwa (he was my grandpa) on: Jan 19, 2018
