SYLVIA MURCHISON (MITCHELL) (nee HELLIS) Peacefully, on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at St. Boniface General Hospital, Sylvia Murchison (nee Hellis) passed away at the age of 70 years. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents William and Maria Hellis. She will be cherished by her husband of 36 years, Ken Murchison and family; Gord and Betty Mitchell and their children Drew and Kaylee; Cindy and Dave McCulloch and children Chris Lobchuk, Adam Lobchuk and Cassandra and their daughter Marissa, Ben Lobchuk and Danielle Lobchuk; and Don and Desi Murchison and Don's daughter Nicole Jordan, all of Winnipeg. Sylvia was born in Winnipeg, but spent her childhood in Killarney, Manitoba assisting with the family businesses - the dress shop, restaurant, bus depot, post office and movie theatre. They operated the businesses until the passing of Sylvia's father. After his passing, she and her mother moved to Winnipeg where she resided until her passing. She held various positions in the food services industry as well as working in business offices. She retired 10 years ago due to ill health and enjoyed her retirement spending her time with family and gardening, spending time with friends. She especially enjoyed her walks to and from Robin's. The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their care during her recent illness. In particular, we are grateful to the Nurse's in the intensive care units. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME, 220 Hespeler Ave., Winnipeg, MB on Tuesday, January 16 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sylvia's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg Manitoba, R3L 0K6.
