Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD FRANK OBIREK December 26, 1939 January 10, 2007 With sadness, we announce the passing of our brother and uncle, Donald Frank Obirek, peacefully at his residence in Stonewall, MB on January 10, 2007. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Stella and Stanley; sisters, Jeannie and Pauline. Left to mourn his loss are sisters, Violet, Frances, Lily, Phyllis (Emil), Gloria (Ted) and Iona; brothers, Walter (Anne), Charles (Louise), Michael, Ivan (Olga) and Larry (Dallas), numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Donald was born with many challenges but faced them with determination, courage and a sense of humour. He was an enthusiastic participant in his day program activities at the Arris Centre in Stonewall where he was employed for a number of years and enjoyed the company of his co-workers. Donald loved animals and music and will be fondly remembered for his friendly and jovial nature. The family would like to extend their special thanks and appreciation to Donald's caregivers and developmental staff for their wonderful and compassionate care over the years. (You all know who you are). May God bless you all. Special thanks to Joanne Cookson for her heartwarming eulogy which was read by Donald's nephew, Tom Howards. Pallbearers were his nephews, Robert, Paul, Jim, Perry, and Neil Obirek and Tom Howards. A private family service was held at Cropo Funeral Chapel on January 13, 2007 with Fr. Maciej Pajak, Pastor, officiating. Interment followed in Holy Ghost Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Donald's memory to the Association For Community Living - Interlake Branch Inc., Box 1222, Stonewall, MB. R0C 2Z0 or to a charity of their choice.
