KATHERINE PALSSON (nee FEDORAK) Peacefully, on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Maples Personal Care Home, Kay passed away at the age of 89 years. Remaining to forever cherish Kay's memory are her loving husband of 54 years of marriage, Sveinn; daughter Darlene (David Plouffe) of Ottawa; sons, Robert (Sue), and Joel (Bev) of Port Coquitlam, BC. Also survived by brother Joe Fedorak; brother-in-law Oscar Mangl (Ashern, MB); sisters-in-law, Anne Fedorak (Calgary, AB) and Edna Derr (Acme, AB) and numerous nieces and nephews. Kay was predeceased by her parents Anna and George Fedorak; brothers, Nick, Bill, Tony, John, and sister Mary. Born in Pleasant Home, MB, on September 12, 1917 Kay spent her early years in Inwood, MB before marrying Sveinn and settling in Winnipeg. As an avid gardener, music lover, bowler and cross-country skier, Kay also enjoyed doing volunteer work at the hospital and teaching fitness classes to seniors. We will miss her smile and sense of humour. Kay's funeral, celebrating her life will be held on Friday, January 19, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Avenue (at the corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue), with Rev. Owen Steeves officiating. Special thanks to all the staff at the Maples Personal Care Home for making Kay's stay as comfortable as possible. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kay's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
