Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLARA LILLIAN BRITTEN (nee JOHNSON) 1927 - 2007 It is with deep sadness that the family of Clara Britten announces her passing on the evening of Saturday, January 13, 2007 at Grace General Hospital. Clara will be deeply missed by her loving husband Jim, of 55 years; her daughter Barbara (Jeff) May of Regina, SK; her son Tom (Sandra) Britten of Winnipeg, MB and her dearest grandchildren, Kelsie and Marina. She will also be lovingly remembered by her brothers, Skuli (Marion), Ken (Jean) and sisters-in-law, Mickey, Mercy and Beb Johnson along with numerous nieces and nephews. Clara was predeceased by her parents Arni and Jonina Johnson and brothers, Wilfred, Tom, Gordon, Art and Barney; sisters, Bena, Ella and Rooney; her mother-in-law Olive Britten. Clara was born in Ashern, MB on April 19, 1927 and grew up on the family farm in the Ralph Connor District. She then moved to Winnipeg, to attend Success Business College and then went on to work for James Richardson Securities. On New Years Eve of 1950, Clara met Jim and on August 17, 1951 they were married. After their children arrived, Clara devoted herself to raising and caring for her family. Mom was an outgoing, fun loving person and was always ready to help others before herself. She had a genuine concern for the well being of all her friends and relatives and would do anything she could to support and encourage them. Clara was an avid curler for many years and was a past president of the Deer Lodge Ladies Curling Club. She was also an active golfer with the Bloomberg Ladies Golf League. Mom took a keen interest in politics and worked for many years as a returning officer during elections. We love you and God bless you. Rest in peace Mom The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the compassion and care given to Mom by the 3rd floor south staff of the Grace General Hospital. A memorial service to celebrate Clara's life will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with a reception to follow the service.
