Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHILIP LACHARITY April 27, 1918 January 13, 2007 Peacefully, with his friends at his side, Philip passed away at the Sunnywood Manor in Pine Falls at the age of 88. Philip is survived by three sisters, Rita Wolframe (James), Ontario, Irene Poulsen (Eric) and Jean Hameline both of British Columbia and four brothers, Victor (Ann), Leo, William (Margaret), and Alex (Ellen), all of British Columbia. He was predeceased, by his father Harmidas; Mother Adele; brothers, Louis and Edward and sisters, Germaine and Olive. Philip was born in Makinak, MB and moved to Pine Falls in 1928 at the age of 10, when his father came to work at the papermill. In 1932 the family began farming in Broadlands. During the Second World War, Philip was a member of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. After the war he returned to the Broadlands area, where he purchased his own farm. Philip lived a quiet and content life. He was a down to earth person, who was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether doing odd jobs like grass cutting, light carpentry, or gardening tips. His home was always surrounded with several well stocked bird feeders. He was very generous in sharing the first new potatoes, corn and other vegetables from his huge gardens. One of Philip's passions was growing beautiful flowers, especially roses. He was most proud of his Giant Sunflower which made the front page of the local newspaper. Throughout the years, Philip enjoyed traveling to British Columbia and Ontario to visit his family. He also travelled on many bus tours throughout Canada and the U.S. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the Sunnywood Personal Care Home and the Pine Falls Hospital for their kindness and wonderful care given to Philip during his last few years.
