HERMAN FREDRICK JOHNSON 1918 - 2007 Two weeks after the death of his beloved Kay, his wife of 65 years, our cherished father, grandpa and great-grandpa passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2007 at the Selkirk General Hospital. He was predeceased by his mother Lena (Reykdal) and father Victor. Left to cherish his memory are their children, Janet Smith (George), Kenneth (Anne), Gary (Angela), Wayne (Taffie) and Cathy Krut (Brian); grandchildren, Tammy (Al), Cindy, Jason (Heidi), Janaya (Tim), Janine (Dean), Kristen (Jeff), Shane (Corrine), Michael and Adam; 12 great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Helen Nedotiafko, Marlene Stutsky and Vicky Larabie. He was raised in Winnipeg Beach and Whytewold and joined the army in 1940, served overseas and upon discharge in 1945, took up barbering at Gimli Air Base and later in Selkirk operating as Johnson's Barber Shop for over 40 years. His passions were farming, hunting, fishing, camping, singing and playing his guitar and spending time with his family and friends. Funeral Services to celebrate Herman's life will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Winnipeg Beach Community Cemetery. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
