ALLEN DAVID CLOSEN June 24, 1940 - January 15, 2007 The family is very saddened to announce the passing of Allen at the Gimli Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his son Alan Frandsen of Winnipeg; his mother Grace of Winnipeg; brother Brian (Joyce) of Sioux Lookout, ON; brother Lorne (Erica) of Chilliwack, BC, many cousins, nephews and nieces. Allen was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. His love of the outdoors showed in his many scenic paintings and was only exceeded by his love for Jan Kist, who so lovingly cared for him throughout his illness. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Highway #9 and 2nd St. South, Gimli, MB with Fr. Art Seaman officiating. The family wishes to thank his doctors and staff at Gimli Hospital, Home Care, Palliative Care and all who were so kind to Allan during his illness. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Room ON1160 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
