CLAYTON W. SHICK March 1, 1938 January 14, 2007 Clayton succumbed to a ruptured aortic aneurism on Sunday morning, January 14, 2007, at 3:31 a.m., despite the efforts of a dedicated team of medical professionals fighting to save his life. His untimely passing was a devastating blow to his family and those who knew him. Clayton worked for Dominion Bridge Co. for most of his working years: in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Regina and back in Winnipeg again. He thrived on his work and when Dominion Bridge closed its doors he was happy to be welcomed by Cowin Steel, where he contributed his expertise in the business and was shown much appreciation. Clayton was born in Brandon, MB and with his parents, moved to Dauphin, MB as a youngster where he met and eventually married Elizabeth (Betty) Hafichuk. Together they expanded their family to include Charlene (Toronto), Doug and son Britain (Regina) and Greg (still at home). He is also survived by his sister Noreen Drosdowech (Mel), Darren, Kerri, Noelle and their families; Dennis (Nicole and Kyle and his family). Also left to mourn is his mother-in-law Pauline Hafichuk; brother-in-law Ron Hafichuk (Crystal and Tom). Clayton was predeceased by his parents George and Hilda Shick; his father-in-law William Hafichuk and his brother-in-law Ted Hafichuk (Donna; Brad and Doug). Most of all, Clayton's family was very dear to him, and would always think of them before tending to his own wants or needs. He loved children, and in his younger years you'd always find him at a recreation centre doing whatever needed to be done, or tying up skates for up and coming young hockey players. His own passion was bowling and enjoyed it for many years. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. We would like to give heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful people who comforted us in our time of need and worked so hard on our behalf. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations, if so desired, may be forwarded to St. Boniface General Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2J 9Z9.
