CHARLES CAMPEAU Charles Campeau passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre on January 15, 2007, at the age of 63. He was predeceased by his parents Alphonsine and Luc Campeau; his brother Télèsphore (Ted); his sister Simone Lagacé, and his brothers-in-law, Bill Denysiuk and René Provost. He leaves to mourn his brothers and sisters, Lucille Provost, Madeleine Denysiuk, Joe (Irene), Lorraine Mysak (John), Aurèle (Louise); his brother-in-law Marcel Lagacé; sister-in-law Lin Campeau, and many nieces and nephews. Charles will be remembered for his beautiful singing voice and his remarkable memory for birthdays and anniversaries. Above all, he loved family gatherings, religious services and sports. Charles had a keen interest for local and national events. He was the last person in the long line of mourners at Pierre Trudeau's funeral. A Montreal journalist covering the funeral wrote: After leaving a long-stemmed red rose on the Maple Leaf, Charles walked away, reciting the John McCrae poem In Flanders Field. In memory of Trudeau, he rephrased the last lines: We hold the torch that Pierre gave us. Be proud to hold it high. May it be carried on. All his life, Charles dreamed of winning a lottery, but we know of the many riches he had in his own heart. Repose en paix, Charles. A very special thanks from the Campeau family to St. Boniface Hospital 6th floor, and Deer Lodge Hospital Respitory ward and many thanks to Dr. Craig Hildahl. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19 in the St. Norbert Roman Catholic Church, 80 St. Pierre Street with Father Antoine Vo Van Hoa presiding. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date at the St. Norbert Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital and Research Foundation, D1003-409 Taché Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6 or to the Deer Lodge Centre Respitory Ward, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
