ARTHUR HOULE June 17, 1928 January 14, 2007 It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather on Sunday January 14, 2007 at the age of 78 years. Arthur leaves to mourn his loving wife of 54 years, Georgette (Brais); his son Aurèle (Laurette); and daughters Anne-Marie and Jo-Anne (Maurice). He will be remembered forever by the grandchildren who adored him so much, Jérémie, Joseph, Félix, Jacinthe, Ghislain, Amaël, Daniel, Muriel, Roxanne, Marc, Louis, and Deanne. Arthur was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Antoinette (Comeault) Houle; his brother Eugene and wife Carmelle (Granger); his sisters Aline Casper and Lucille Rajotte; and son-in-law Robert (Red) Fillion. He will remain in the heart of his sister Yvette Fillion, and brother-in-law Ben Casper, as well as many nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Dr. Kliewer, Dr. Bueddefeld, and the staff at the Altona Health Centre who provided him with exceptional care. The 1950 flood is what brought Mom and Dad together. They were married on October 4, 1952. Arthur as not born to be a man of the city, the earth was in his blood, and his heart was on the land. Although he worked on his dad's farm, he took other jobs when necessary such as working on the foundation of a Goodyear Tire garage, construction at the Letellier Bridge in 1956, construction of the roof of the junior high school in St. Jean, and labourer for Bockstael Construction. He always clung to his farm life buying pigs, chickens, beef, and dairy cattle. Although Dad was a jack-of-all-trades, he was also an excellent carpenter. He built his own house including many additions on the farm, as well as for family and friends. Dad was a person that could never say no to anyone in need, and for those who knew him loved him and had a friend for life. He was devoted to his community, especially his parish. He was responsible for the nativity scene in the local church for 24 years, and was always ready, willing, and able to help with any job the priest had for him. Dad was always proud of his accomplishments. No matter what the problem was, either emotional or physical, he would never complain. Dad, thank you for your devotion, patience, your love, and especially your sense of humour. You gave equally of laughter, sharing, and attention. You taught us to have faith in God and to trust that hardships were necessary but temporary. Dad, pepère, it's with great sorrow we say farewell; we'll love you always in our memories and in our hearts. Prayers will be held on Friday January 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in St. Joseph, with the funeral mass also at the church on Saturday January 20 at 2:30 p.m. Viewing at the prayers and prior to mass. If friends so desire donations may be made in memory of Arthur to the Altona Community Memorial Health Centre, Box 660, Altona, MB R0G 0B0; or the Heart Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
