ELSIE HAY September 17, 1951 - January 13, 2007 It is with mixed emotions of sadness and joy that we announce the passing of my mother, Elsie Hay. Sadness, because we will miss her and joy, because she is now in Heaven with Jesus and is reunited with her parents, Ross and Olga Tycholis and her Aunt Ann Kimocovich. Mom will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by me, Dwayne and my wife Laura; her brother Bob Tycholis; sisters, Addi and husband Bill, Sylvia and husband Les, Virginia and husband Randy; nephews, Ryan and Tanya Cheale, Kevin and Natasha Cheale and Benjamin Lesyk; niece and Goddaughter Samantha Lesyk; nieces, Monica and Pamela Hancharyk; great-niece Darrian and great-nephews, Dylan and Austin, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Mom, known as Poopsie by her siblings, was born in Ethelbert, Manitoba on September 17, 1951. She lived in a homestead with her parents and siblings in Garland, Manitoba. It is without saying that she had her share of chores, as did her siblings, but Saturday nights were reserved for her father and her to watch their favourite hockey team - the Chicago Black Hawks. There was very little peace in the household when the two of them got together to watch their favourite team. When she was not doing chores or watching hockey, she assisted her mother in the cooking and baking, she cherished those times with her mother to the day of her passing. She moved to the city of Winnipeg where she very quickly adopted the Winnipeg Jets as her extended family. She was a season ticket holder and never missed a game. Her great love was to be around her family, either playing crib, various celebrations, golfing or just sitting on the balcony of her sister's home in Kelowna with her brother and sisters. Mom was employed by Canada Post Corporation for 25 years until such time as her health prevented her from work. She was very much involved with charities and functions that required her organizational skills and endless hours of commitment to raise money for the United Way or helping out with the Children's Christmas Party. She had established great friendships with numerous people in Canada Post that have been very supportive during her illness. Her friends were very important to her and she cherished the special friendship and long-time support to both of us from Kathy, Dennis, Steve, Lori, Tracy and Gary. Her friendships with Viola, Wayne Cheale, Marilyn, Goodie, Eli, Charlotte, Beth, Kyle, Blaire, Steven, Margaret and Howard also meant the world to her. As per mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CancerCare Foundation in memory of our sister, our aunt and my mother - Elsie. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street with Father Ray Lukie officiating. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
