Born: Jun 15, 1944
Date of Passing: Jan 17, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD COOK June 15, 1944 - January 17, 2007 In the company of his wife (Betty Cook); son (David Cook), and daughter (Shawna Cook), we announce the passing of our husband and father, Ron Cook on January 17 2007. Now he is free Free from sadness Free from pain Free from confusion and the life he would have never wanted. He is with us now in a better place able to walk and run for miles Fly as far as he could ever imagine and experience his grandchildren for the first time He can speak a mile a minute and laugh a deep belly laugh Truly at peace and proud to have finally been set free. Ron was a very strong man until the very end. Born in Flin Flon he was an energetic athlete with true determination and drive for anything he put his mind to. He was an exceptional goalie, but chose to give up his hockey career to go into business with his father. Eventually, after having a family and being in the business for many years, his life pulled him in another direction, his love of flying. He had his own small plane that he loved to take up on joy rides and at the age of 42 he decided to turn it into a career. He always pursued his passions and taught us all that with hard work and determination anything is possible. In his early 50's he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and had a very colourful journey for the past 10 years. All who came in contact with him remember him, and thought very highly of him. He was a great husband, great father, and will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Special thanks to all his caregivers at Golden West, Seven Oaks, Dear Lodge, and Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Society of Winnipeg, Unit 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R6. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home And Reception Centre 885-9715
