HULDA MARGRET CLARKE (nee GUTTORMSSON) Hulda Clarke passed away on Friday, January 12, 2007, in White Rock, BC. She was predeceased by her husband, Alex, grandson, Barrett Lawrence and sisters, Arnheidur Eyolfson, Paulina Dahlman and Begga Sigurdson. Hulda was born 1916 in Riverton, MB. Hulda is survived by her loving family; brother Gilbert Guttormsson, son Dr. Ronald Clarke (Heather) and daughter Maureen Lawrence (Bruce), four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. She married Alex Clarke, an employee of the C.P. and E R railways. They in Winnipeg, Nanaimo and White Rock. Hulda was a kind, supportive wife, mother and grandmother; a charming woman with a great sense of humour. Proud of her Icelandic heritage and her family, she wrote interesting and often humorous essays about her life including stories about her father, the celebrated Icelandic poet, Guttormur J. Guttormsson. If desired, donations in memory of Hulda may be sent to the Riverton Transportation Heritage Centre, to fund publication of a collection of local transportation stories, c/o Margaret Wishnowski, P.O Box 17, Riverton, MB, R0C 2R0. By request, there will be no service.
