MARY LUHOWY Passed away peacefully at the age of 85 at Sunnyside Home, with daughter Anna at her side on Wednesday, January 17, 2007. Predeceased by her husband John (Ivan) Luhowy (February 1993). Mary will be sadly missed by her one daughter Anna of Kitchener, cousin Nettie Dearborn (nee Berezuik) and family of Lintlaw, Saskatchewan, and many friends in Winnipeg. Mary was warm, funny, and endearing in her appreciation of whatever small joys she was able to derive from life. She took pride and sought perfection in all that she did, whether it be wonderful Ukrainian cooking, gardening, or producing magnificent needlework. She was a conscientious and hard working provider, and self sacrificing for her family above all. Mary (nee Pograniczna) was born in Kopanj, Poland September 30, 1921. She and her husband arrived in Canada in 1948 and settled in Winnipeg. Mary worked at Sabina Sportswear and Manitoba Clothing until retirement. To the staff of Sunnyside Home, heartfelt thanks for their tireless efforts and caring, and to the new friends made there, for their support and camaraderie over the last eight years. Cremation has taken place. An informal gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate Mary's life. Interment will take place in the spring at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
