Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEAH FRANKEL 1923 - 2007 Following a brief illness, Leah Frankel passed away on January 3, 2007. She was predeceased by her parents, Clara and William Adilman and her sisters, Evelyn Paseo and Francis Melamede. Leah is survived by her loving family who will miss her dearly: husband Artie; sons, Bernie, David, and Harvey; daughter-in-law Susan; and grandsons, Matthew, Robby, and Jed. Leah was born on June 27, 1923 in Saskatoon where she grew up studying education and music, in addition to her regular schooling. In 1944, Leah moved to Winnipeg to study nursing and after graduating in 1947, remained active in her profession until retiring in 1991. She established longtime, meaningful friendships through her career which remained significant in her life and never diminished. Following graduation, Leah married Artie and began a 59-year union of love, devotion and commitment. Their life together began in Chicago where Artie was attending dental school. Upon his graduation, they moved to Weyburn, SK where they settled for eight years and celebrated the births of their three children. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1957 where they established their permanent home. Leah led a full and active life - attending symphonies and plays, playing bridge, an intense exercise regime, and particularly attending anything in her grandchildren's lives that she could be a part of. She enjoyed travelling with special friends, good times in Palm Springs with family and friends, and especially her summers in Gimli, where she hoped everyday would end with a barbeque. Family and friendships were first and foremost in Leah's life. She never stopped making new friends, cultivating many interests, and participating enthusiastically in all life had to offer. Leah's funeral was held at Herzlia Synagogue with interment at Rosh Pina Cemetery on January 5, 2007.

I am Earl Palansky, a second cousin of Leah on her mother's side - her mother and my grandmother were sisters. I didn't know Leah well, but I thought she was a genuine, warm, person. My condolences to Artie and the family. - Posted by: Earl Palansky (Family) on: Jan 20, 2007
