OLGA STEFANIUK
Born: May 16, 1923
Date of Passing: Jan 14, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA STEFANIUK Peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2007 Olga Stefaniuk passed away at the St. Boniface General Hospital. Born Olga Boychuck on May 16, 1923 in the Ukraine, Olga made the courageous journey to Canada at a young age, where her family established itself amidst fellow Ukrainian settlers in the small farming community of Glenella, Manitoba. After falling in love with a young man from her village, who also emigrated from the Ukraine, she became Mrs. Olga John Stefaniuk. The two formed what can only be described as a very special couple. They had two sons, Ron and Wally, and moved to Winnipeg in 1956 where they spent the remainder of their long and loving life together until John passed away suddenly in 1995. Although her pace slowed in the years that followed, Olga remained a force among family and friends always up for a dance or a joke, and always looking forward to spending time with her great-grandchild. She is remembered by those who have been touched by her strong family values, and who have benefited from the trials and the love that she experienced in her lifetime: her sons, Ron and Wally, and their wives, Marion and Lil; her grandchildren, Anea, Todd, Glenn, Nicole, Curtis; great-grandchild Madison; and many nieces and nephews, including Shirley, who was like a daughter to her. She will also be missed by her very close neighbours and friends in her community. She will be cremated, and a family memorial service will be held at a later date, when all family members are in Canada. The family would like to thank the staff at the Palliative Care Ward at St. Boniface General Hospital, and the staff at the Fred Douglas Day Program. Also a special thanks to Olga's little Angel, Dorothy Reske. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the St. Boniface General Hospital Palliative Care Endowment Fund.
