ROBERT (BOB) FRANK MORRIS It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bob Morris on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at the age of 77 years. Remaining to forever cherish Bob's memory are his wife Jean; daughter Shelley (John MacLise) and grandson Eric; sons, Rob and Glen; brother Elstan (Joan) and sister-in-law Irene Bill (Bob), as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved pets, Dino Dog and Patchy Cat. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Harry Morris (1981) and Elsie Susan Morris (1974). Born on October 11, 1929, in Winnipeg, Bob moved to North Springfield in 1936 where he lived for 70 years, appreciating the tranquility of country living and the wonders of Mother Nature. In 1951, Bob received his Bachelor of Science (Civil Engineering) from the University of Manitoba and enjoyed a 30 year career with Simkin and B.A. Construction. He then started his own consulting business and after 25 years was still thriving on the challenge of a new project. With a strong work ethic and determined nature, no job was too difficult for him to tackle. In 1959 Bob and Jean were married and three children followed between 1960 and 1963. He was devoted to his family and was always there for them in times of need. Bob enjoyed several years coaching his sons in hockey in the 1970s (which in those days also involved building the rink!) and never missed any of his grandson's hockey games. He was a proud and involved Gaga to Eric and they liked playing scrub hockey, catch and golf together. His pets were also part of his family, and stray animals that found their way to our home over the years couldn't have been luckier. Promoting the importance of good health, Bob started jogging when he was 40 years old. He did his daily four mile run with his dog Dino by his side until the day before he died. His daughter was proud to have him on her relay teams in the Manitoba Marathon, and he ran his last relay at the age of 73. A caring and generous man, Bob always stood up for what he believed in. He donated to many charities, with special interest in those that preserved the environment for future generations and protected his animal friends. Bob valued the simple things in life like working in his vegetable garden and spotting a wild tiger lily; reading a good book; restoring a 1921 log cabin built by his father at Lake Winnipeg; and having a lively discussion with his many friends over a cup of tea. He will be remembered for his never-give-up attitude, love of a good laugh and independent nature. A better father there could not be. A service for Bob will be held on Monday, January 22 at 2:00 p.m. in The Church at Pine Ridge on Garven Road at PTH 207 (Deacon Road). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or World Wildlife Fund Canada, 245 Eglinton Ave. East, Suite 410, Toronto, ON M4P 3J1 or the charity of one's choice. Bob's arrangements have been entrusted to WOJCIK'S FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM, 897-4665.
