Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE EDWARD HAWKINS 1911 - 2007 With deep sorrow and regret, the family announces the peaceful passing of George Hawkins on January 14, 2007 at St. Boniface General Hospital, at the age of 95 years. George was predeceased by Kathleen, his wife of 60 years, in 1995. He leaves to cherish his memory sons, Jim (Gisele) and Kevin; daughter Bonnie. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Jim (Joanne), Barbara (Myron), Jeffrey and Claire (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Kathleen, Alexander, Samantha and Rachel, nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his love and commitment to family. Born May 28, 1911 in Stoke Newington, London, England, George immigrated to Canada in 1913 with his family, settling in Brandon, MB. He married Kathleen McKinnon in 1935 and they moved to Winnipeg where George was employed with Pritchard Engineering. In later years he was employed with Interprovincial Pipeline and the Manitoba Government. The family gratefully acknowledges Dr. P. G. Mehta for the care provided over 35 years, and extends their appreciation to W.R.H.A. and 6A-S staff for their care and support. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, at Green Acres Funeral Home. Interment in Margaret Cemetery is planned for a later date. Flowers declined, with thanks. It is with fond memories and sheer awe of the stories and deep respect for the path chosen that this day though sad is one of celebration of the man and the gentleman! May he forever bounce up off the great couches in heaven with a firm handshake and a twinkle in his eye for all those that knew him.
