JAMES HORACE WAINWRIGHT (Uncle Jim) Jim passed away on January 11, 2007 at Concordia Hospital. Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 61 years, Barbara, brother Tom of Red Deer, sister-in-law Joyce of England, many nieces and nephews, and his two special pals, Samantha and Tabitha. Jim was born March 3, 1924, in Molson, Manitoba and grew up in the Molson and Winnipeg areas. He joined the RCASC 2nd DIV in 1942 and served in Europe and England where he met his wife Barbara. After the War, he spent his working life as a truck driver and owner-operator in the construction industry. Jim and Barbara greatly enjoyed their many trips to England. After retirement Jim joined the Friends of the Conservatory. He was a life member and manned the plant stand with his wife for 14 years. He especially loved his special times at the Zoo. Jim loved all animals and took great joy in feeding the birds and squirrels in his yard. He loved the neighbourhood children and was known by many as Uncle Jim . He was a kind and generous man and will be remembered with love by all who knew him. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all staff on 2 West at Concordia Hospital and to Dr. Reimer and Dr. Doermer for their compassion, support, and outstanding care. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg. If so desired, donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Friends of the Conservatory, 15 Conservatory Drive, Winnipeg R3P 2N5, the Zoological Society of Manitoba, 54 Zoo Drive, Winnipeg R3P 2N8, or a charity of one's choice.
