DONALD JAMES (JIM) BARRON June 22, 1933 January 19, 2007 Peacefully, after a battle with cancer, Jim Barron of Warren, MB passed away at the Grace Hospital on Friday, January 19, 2007. He is survived by his beloved wife Alma, son George (Tina), grandson, Nicholas of Toronto; daughter Lin Steeves, grandchildren, Parker, Griffin and Tiana; son-in-law George. Jim is also survived by siblings, Ken (Diane), Phyllis (Keith), Rob (Lorraine) and Georgina (Gabe) and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Montreal and moved to Manitoba in 1967. Jim especially enjoyed and was very proud of his years spent working as an addictions counsellor with the AFM. He then moved on to a new career at the MGEU as a union representative. Prior to his retirement in 2001, Jim was elected to the License Suspension Appeal Board on which he served until his passing. His retirement years were spent enjoying his grandchildren's sports events and many hours on the links with his bro Lou Lapointe. As per Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main St., Stonewall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace CancerCare, c/o Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Dr. Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3M7. The family wishes to thank Dr. P. Harris, Dr. J Mohamdee and the wonderful and caring nurses and staff of CancerCare and 3 South of the Grace Hospital. They also want to thank Jim's friends who visited him and special thank you to his sister Phyllis, friend Lorna who sat with him through the nights and also to Grant and Margaret for being there.
