MICHAEL (MIKE) KOKOS Suddenly, on Friday, January 19, 2007, at his residence, Michael Mike Kokos, of Portage la Prairie, MB, beloved husband of Susan Kokos, passed away at the age of 86 years. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 1:30 p.m.. with the Reverend Marg Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Mike was born on June 6, 1920 in Jenkoce, Czechoslovakia to John and Annie Kokos. In 1936 he moved with his family to Canada, settling in Steinbach, where they farmed. In 1942 the family moved to the Woodside, MB area and farmed. Mike married Susan Kral in 1945, and together they raised three daughters. In 1958 they moved to Portage La Prairie and Mike worked at Campbell Soup. When Mike retired, he would travel back to the farm to cut the grass and do other jobs. Predeceased by his two brothers and two sisters, he leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Susan Kokos of Portage La Prairie; daughters, Jane Kokos of Winnipeg, Jean Maier of Winnipeg, Betty-Ann Kokos of Montreal Quebec; five grandchildren; Celeste, Omani, Michael, Marie, and Ann; three great-grand-children, Jordan, Bianca, and Chloe; and several nieces and nephews.
