MARIA LOUISE SPAFFORD HILL June 2, 1947 - January 20, 2007 After a courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, January 20, 2007 Louise passed away at the Riverview Health Centre, at the age of 59 years. Louise was born on June 2, 1947 in Steinbach to Edwin and Olga Friesen. She grew up in Steinbach and always considered Steinbach her home no matter where she lived. Louise was a vibrant and energetic woman with an infectious smile and compassionate heart. She was a devoted mother, sister, and wife and had a great love for all animals. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning a degree in Human Ecology at the University of Manitoba while raising a family. She was employed for sixteen years at Manitoba Housing and enjoyed helping those in need of care and assistance. In her retirement, Louise enjoyed exploring the outdoors and traveling with her husband. One of her fondest memories is of her time spent on Vancouver Island at The Wickaninnish Inn enjoying a morning cup of coffee and listening to the waves roll ashore. She also found immense enjoyment in her volunteer position at The Winnipeg Art Gallery gift shop where she made many new friends. Louise will be remembered for her ceaseless devotion to her children, family and friends. Each one of us will treasure the gift of her love friendship and wisdom. We'll miss you, ma. Louise is survived by her loving husband and devoted friend Bob Hill; loving children, Chrissy and John; and all of the family pets Stanley, Sophie, Jenny and Vinny; sister, Lucille (Friesen); brother-in-law Doug Evans; Beth, John and Cody Evans, and Bill Spafford.
