Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY HARRIS (nee CHAMBERLAIN) 1912 - 2007 Peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at the age of 94, our beloved mother, Dorothy Harris, passed away at Golden Links Lodge with her daughters at her bedside. Dorothy was born on October 7, 1912 in Morden, Manitoba, the eldest of six children. Her younger years were spent in the Morden area. On September 9, 1939, following a long courtship, she married the love of her life Geoffery Harris. Being a banker's wife lead to travel and setting up homes in several different areas, with the family eventually settling in Vancouver. Mom's life revolved around her family and home life. Curling, golfing, sewing, knitting, card games, raising two daughters, and the usual Sunday family dinner kept her active for many years. Retirement saw Mom and Dad fulfill their dreams of travel with several trips to distant lands. Mesa, Arizona became their winter getaway. The desire to be near family brought them back to Winnipeg in 1979. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. The arrival of great-grandchildren brought babies to cuddle again. She was predeceased by her husband Geoff in 1985, and her brothers, Clarence, George, Bub, and sister Evie. Survived by daughters, Gail (Walter) Hagen and Janet (Bob) Peddle; grandchildren, Todd (Kim) Hagen, Ted (Suzanne) Hagen, Maris (Mike) Thompson, Jody (Steven Haggard) Peddle, Kim (Jeff) Hampton; great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Carlie Hagen, Clayton and Coleman Thompson, Summer Hagen, Alison Hampton, and Paxon Haggard. Mom, you will be missed and we will hold you in our hearts forever. Golden Links Lodge caregivers you were wonderful. We cannot express enough our appreciation and gratitude for the loving and compassionate care shown to Mom and the family during this difficult time. A memorial service will take place Wednesday, January 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent to the Alzheimer's Society or Golden Links Lodge.
