Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNOELLE MARGUERITE MARIE DES LAURIERS On Monday, January 15, 2007 Noelle Des Lauriers passed away at her home in Oakville, MB. Noelle was born in Montreal and moved to Rosetown, SK at an early age with her parents. She attended Notre Dame College in Wilcox, SK, graduating with a B.A. She moved to Prince Albert, SK where she worked for the City as head of Social Services before moving to Portage la Prairie in 1969 to take the position of Superintendent of the Correctional Centre for Women. Noelle received her Masters of Social Work degree in 1972 from the University of Manitoba. She moved to Oakville and became actively involved in the community shortly before retiring in the late 1980s. All through her life Noelle got involved and gave much of her talent and time to benefit many. To name a few of her dedicated involvements she belonged to the following groups: Youth Justice, Oakville Silver Threads, Night Writers, Manitoba's Writer's Guild, Big Brother/Big Sisters, Past President of St. Hyacinth Catholic Women's League, Ladies of the Altar Society and Good Shepherd Catholic Church serving on the Building Committee Noelle enjoyed traveling, reading, opera, camping, fishing and the training of dogs especially Dalmatians. She was a true dog-lover. Noelle was generous, loving and compassionate, a bit stubborn but had a terrific sense of humour. She was very appreciative of all that was done for her and was a devout Christian doing much for many. Noelle was predeceased by her parents, Telesthore and Alma Des Lauriers. She leaves behind cousins, Therese and Andre Cyrenne of Ponteix, SK, Paulette (Doug) Sutherland of Winnipeg with their daughters, Amber, Ashley and Maureen, Lise Cyrenne of Switzerland, Denis (Sylvia) Cyrenne and family of Regina, SK, Roland (Rita) Cyrenne and family of Ponteix, SK and Lillian (Dave) Wanner and family of Estevan, SK. She will be lovingly remembered by her long time friends, Ted and Madeleine Bevans; godson Troy Bevans (Michelle) and their sons, Bryce, Austin and Connor all of Saskatoon, SK. She will be greatly missed by her many friends in Oakville, Portage la Prairie, Winnipeg and far away places. Deacon Bill Parrack led in Prayers on Friday, January 19, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church with Celebrant Father Michael Wollbaum. Memories of Noelle were shared by Bev Tenszen and Dora Maendel. Amber Sutherland and Rita Seidel read the scriptures and Madeleine Bevans and Therese Cyrenne presented the gifts. The soloist was Harry Funk and Ken McLeod presided at the piano. The pallbearers were Ted Bevans, Troy Bevans, Wayne Bott, Brian Martin, Doug Sutherland and Armand Tanguay. In keeping with Noelle's wishes cremation followed the service. Deacon Bill Parrack led the private interment at Hillside Cemetery in Portage la Prairie, MB on Monday, January 22, 2007. The urnbearer was godson Troy Bevans. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Noelle's memory to Good Shepherd Building Fund, 114 Countess Ave., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0T2 or to Canadian Diabetes Association, 102 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6.
