SARAH HELEN ANN HUNT (nee THOMPSON) 1908 - 2007 Peacefully in her sleep at Park Manor Care Home, Helen passed away February 17, 2007 in her 99th year. Helen was predeceased by her husband Joseph; sons, Raymond, Jack and Donald, as well as her parents, Bill and Elizabeth; her brothers, Jack, Ben and George, and her sisters, Margaret, Mamie, Lillian, Cavelle and Gladys She is survived by her daughter Betty; sister Kay, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Helen was born in Minnedosa, MB and raised there as well as Clanwilliam and Erickson. After receiving her education there Helen went to Normal School in Winnipeg and became a teacher. Her first posting was at Egelson School in Big Woody District in the Swan River Valley where she met and married Joe Hunt. They then lived in Flin Flon, Scandinavia, Otter Lake and the Middlechurch area before moving to Elmwood where they raised their children. Helen was a very dedicated teacher specializing in E.S.L. and reading to disabled children. She eventually retired from Morse Place Junior High School. Helen's life was packed with major challenges. She was the main bread winner while raising four children, two of whom had serious health issues and one who never became independent. Her three sons predeceased her. Helen's passion, besides education and grandchildren, was her Chihuahua dogs which gave her much pleasure, and a group of caring dog loving friends. She spent her final years in Pleasant View Lodge in Cooks Creek and Park Manor Care Home in Transcona, where the staff became her family and took wonderful care of her. Special thanks to Dr. Macek and the staff at Park Manor. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, 2007 at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy.
