Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPAULINE MEMKA Peacefully, after a brief illness, Pauline Memka passed away at Middlechurch Home on Monday, January 22, 2007 at the age of 93 years. She is survived by her son Bob (Irene); daughters, Sonia, Luba and Joanne (George); daughter-in-law Zoria; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth and Helen; brother Walter. She was predeceased by her husband Peter; son Wally; parents, Michael and Maria; brothers, Bill, John and Peter; sisters, Anne and Olga; sons-in-law, George Kosowan and Joe Hunnie. Pauline was born in Vita, MB on October 27, 1913 and grew up on the farm working very hard until she moved into the city. There she met Dad, got married and they raised five children. Mom was a great cook and loved to bake. The many family gatherings will last forever in the minds of all who were fortunate enough to be able to attend them. When it was time to leave no one left Mom's kitchen empty handed. Mom also loved working in the garden and looking after her beautiful flowers. Mom spent many hours volunteering for church dinners, bazaars and teas at both St. Ivan Suchavsky Church and Holy Trinity Cathedral. She belonged to the Lesia Ukrainka Women's Branch and was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Cathedral. Dad passed away suddenly in June 1994. Mom lived in their home for a short while, then moved into an apartment where she lived until her move to Middlechurch Home in November 2005. Thanks to all the staff at Middlechurch Home for their care and kindness. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Very Rev. Fr. Henry Lakusta officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. There she will be reunited with Pop and possibly they will get back into the perogies assembly line once again. Flowers gratefully declined, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Pauline's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Manitoba Diabetes Foundation or a charity of your own choice.
