Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT ALPHONSE BERARD It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Albert Bérard on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home. Dad will be joining his wife of 60 years, Solange (who predeceased him in December 2003) and his son, Denis in August 1973, his two brothers, Maurice and Edouard and his two sisters, Marie-Anna and Rose-Alma and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Richard (Sharon); daughter-in-law Lucette (Derek Lavallee), Robert (Rachel), Mariette (Ron Lagacé), Gisèle (René Sabourin), Jean-Paul (Diane), Raymond (Nicole), Jacqueline (Maurice Saurette), Michel, Madeleine, Maurice (Brenda), Estelle (Murray Schultz). 34 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is Dad's sister Emma Jubinville, eight sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law. Albert, son of Octavien Bérard and Emilia Landry, was born on August 31, 1917 in Sainte-Elizabeth. He grew up on the paternal farm, where he lived until his retirement in 1992. In 1943 he married Solange Fillion and together they raised their 12 children. In April of 1992 they moved to Morris and lived there for eight years and then moved on to the Chalet Saint-Norbert in 2000. Regrettably, in the summer of 2002, Dad had to be placed in the St. Adolphe Care Home, due to Mom's illness and Dad's Alzheimer becoming more pronounced. Seven months later, Dad moved to Saint-Norbert Care Home since it was so convenient for Mom to visit him so close by. Dad was a hard worker, a good business man and a successful farmer. He was a very devout Catholic, being the choir director and member of the Knights of Columbus. All those who knew Dad would attest that he was a people person with a very big heart. He had a great love for his wife, Mom . He was an exemplary family man, eagerly anticipating huge family gatherings and spoiling his grandchildren. He loved to play Barouche, croquignole, watching baseball and his Boston Bruins. He also admired nature and caring for animals. The family extends their thanks to Joann, Yvonne, Lindsay, Sandy and all the staff who cared for Dad during the three years he was at St. Norbert. Funeral mass will be celebrated at the St. Norbert Roman Catholic Church in St. Norbert, MB on Thursday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. The service will terminate at the church. Private interment of Albert's cremated remains will take place in the St. Jean Baptiste Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Albert's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4G2. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220.
