Date of Passing: Jan 11, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIVIAN ANNA SKINNER Vivian Anna Skinner, aged 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Windsor on January 11, 2007. Loving wife of James Donald Skinner, dear mother of Holly (Bernard), Karen, Teresa (Irv) and James Jr. (Jo-Ann). Grandmother of Owen, Aaron, Adair and Jimmy, Aunt of David, Jeff and Kirk and close relative to Evelyn, dear friend of Inga. Mass of Christian Burial was held in Windsor. Mom cared deeply for her grandchildren; always interested in their schooling and hobbies. Her 63 years of marriage was a testament of her love for her husband and family. Her cooking and baking were gobbled up quickly and the aroma will always stay in our hearts. Being an expert seamstress, Mom created clothes and an array of fancy needlework as well as wearing the latest fashions. She was truly the backbone of our family. Holding down the fort while Dad was away with hockey and Mom did it to perfection. She loved the outdoors, evidenced by her gardening in Windsor, picking blueberries, mushrooms and of course stone gathering on the beach. She loved socializing with her many friends at Lester Beach and throughout Manitoba. People always commented on how sweet and kind she was. She was an exceptional baseball and basketball player in her youth, that's when she met Dad. He was the coach of her baseball team. The team had a live bear as a mascot and they played throughout western Canada. Mom was a world traveler, China, Egypt, South America and Europe to name a few. Mom would amaze us with her remarkable vocabulary during heated scrabble games. Hating to lose, mom would study the dictionary before bed, teaching us new words in the process. We cherish the time we had with her and will love her forever.
